We have just purchased a 1999 zafira and have the same problem the driver s side rear door will not open.

They basically just replaced the locking mechanism it was an official vauxhall lock and i think it cost them about 32 for the part so not that expensive considering a sump plug costs 7 from my local vauxhall dealer.
